This workshop is an introduction into the fundamentals of Dharma yoga: basic theory, philosophy and practices of classical yoga as received from living master Sri. Dharma Mittra. It is an-levels workshop designed for those wishing to deepen their yoga knowledge. Dharma yoga will ignite the entire bodily system through practice. A series of deeper balancing, stretching, back bending, twisting, and inverted variations will be taught, including the Headstand, King of Postures. This practice finishes with Deep Relaxation, breathing practices, and concentration/meditation, which will induce deep calm and simultaneously invigorate the students.

This workshop will be led by Phyllis Chan, a student of Dharma Mittra’s advanced 500-hr yoga teacher training program. Sri Yogi Dharma Mittra founded one of the early independent schools of Yoga in New York City in 1975. He is the author of the world-renowned masterpiece, the Master Yoga Chart of 908 Postures. Now 76 years old, Dharma Mittra’s life represents intense service to mankind through the ethical, spiritual, and practical physical philosophy of Yoga in action. He has influenced hundreds of thousands of aspirants in his nearly half century of teaching. He continues to teach daily at the Dharma Yoga New York Centre, leads “Life of a Yogi” 200, 500, and 800 hour Teacher Trainings, and workshops worldwide. He is author of Maha Sadhana DVDS I&II, Sun Salutation Yoga Course Chart, and Asanas 608 Yoga Poses book.
